Microsoft Exchange accounts - adding, removing, syncing

Set up an Exchange account

If you have a corporate Microsoft Exchange account, here is how to set it up:

  1. Contact your organization's e-mail administrator for the following details:
    • Server address
    • Port
    • Security type
  2. On a Home screen of your phone, touch the Menu key (=) > Touch "System settings" > In the "Accounts" section, touch "+ Add account" > Touch "Corporate".
  3. Type your full e-mail address and password, and then touch "Next".
  4. When asked to select the type of your account, touch "Exchange".
  5. In the next screen, type the following details, and then touch "Next":
    • Username - your full e-mail address
    • Password - your e-mail password
    • Server - the address of your Exchange server provided by your e-mail administrator.

      NB: If the "Server" field is prefilled with details that are different from the details provided by your e-mail administrator, you'll need to delete the entered details, and then type the correct server address.

    • Port - make sure the number of the port is the same as the number provided by your e-mail administrator
    • Security type - touch the field to select the type of security provided by your e-mail administrator
  6. In the "Remote security administration" dialogue, touch "OK".
  7. In the "Account settings" screen, set the desired options for checking frequency, amount to sync, notifications, etc., and then touch "Next".
  8. Type a name for this account (optional), and touch "Next".
  9. IF you are asked to activate a device administrator for your account, touch "Activate". Otherwise, touch "Done" to complete the setup.

Once you've added your Exchange account, your email associated with this account will appear in the Email app , your calendar(s) associated with your Exchange account will appear in the Calendar app , and your Exchange account contacts will appear in the People app .

Remove an Exchange account

If you remove an Exchange account from your phone, the account and all the information associated with it will be deleted from your phone, including email, contacts, calendar events, settings, etc.

  1. On a Home screen, touch the Menu key (=).
  2. Touch "System settings".
  3. In the "Accounts" section, touch "Corporate".
  4. Touch the name of the account you want to remove.
  5. In the "Sync screen", touch the Menu key (=).
  6. Touch "Remove account".
  7. To confirm, touch "Remove account" in the dialog that opens.

Control what gets synced

You can enable and disable synchronization of certain types of data associated with your Exchange account, e.g. contacts, calendar, etc.

To manage sync settings for your Exchange Account:

  1. On a Home screen, touch the Menu key (=).
  2. Touch "System settings".
  3. In the "Accounts" section, touch "Corporate".
  4. Touch the name of the account whose settings you want to adjust.
  5. Tick off the types of data (e.g. Calendar, Contacts, Email, etc.) you want to get synced, and remove the check mark next to those that you don't by touching them.

Change Exchange account settings

  1. On a Home screen, touch the Menu key (=).
  2. Touch "System settings".
  3. Under "Accounts", touch "Corporate".
  4. Touch "Account settings".

To change Email account settings, do the following:

  1. Open the Email app .
  2. Touch the Menu key (=).
  3. Touch "Settings".
  4. For general Email settings, touch "General settings". The changes you make here will apply to all the Email accounts you add on your phone.
  5. For account-specific settings, touch the name of the account (e-mail address) whose settings you want to change. The changes you make here will only apply to this particular account.
